National Project Team Leader: Dr Vlad
ROMANO
Consultant: Mr Wim BUISMAN, European Addiction Training
Institute & Jellinek International Projects, The Netherlands
The task was to create a Manual on drug
treatment, includes a glossary of about 100 drug-related
terms. The Handbook:
• give the main aspects of the biological and non-biological
methods of treatment
• provides the first synthesis of treatment methods
in Romanian literature
• outlines the importance of the bio-psycho-social
approach and the multidisciplinary team
• features a modern approach to case-work
• describes clinical, biological, psychological evaluation
and diagnosis based on modern instruments (scales, structured
interviews)
• explains co-morbidity evaluation, therapeutic strategies
and case management
• describes aspects of psychosocial rehabilitation.
Following the publication of the Manual, the NPT and the
Consultant conducted related training, which was supported
by additional Pompidou Group funding combined with KAP /
MATRA funding from the Dutch Government. This is an example
of how the DRSTP leveraged funding from other sources to
enhance its effectiveness.
